Our kits are suitable for two age groups:
🟥 Curiosity Jumbo (red box) is suitable for 7-11 years
🟦 Curiosity Nano (blue box) is suitable for 7-11 years
🟨 CuriosiTOTS Jumbo (yellow box) is suitable for 4-6 years
🟪 CuriosiTOTS Nano (blue & purple box) is suitable for 4-6 years
With all our boxes we encourage grown-ups to offer their services as trusty lab assistant, and it’s up to you and your cadet what activities you do together. All we ask, is that you follow our safety instructions.
Yes, BUT they are not intended to feel like school! We want kids to be exploring and thinking, not just learning fascinating facts. So we have linked each activity to the primary curricula for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with a very large dash of flair and creativity!
All of our activities are with your child’s safety at the top of our list of must-haves. We don’t let anything out of CBHQ without making sure it’s fully compliant with the latest Health and Safety legislation. Some of our boxes contain food (like Bake Off Lab and Healthy Me) so please read the details of the box before you check out.
Science and sustainability go hand-in-hand at the Curiosity Box, and as scientists, we want to make this world a better place, not one littered with junk. So we have a simple but strict policy:
- Our packaging has always been compostable corn starch or sustainably sourced card.
- Our supply chain is as ethical as possible, and minimising carbon by sourcing as much as possible from local suppliers.
- The contents of the box are all sourced with the environment in mind. We use compostable cups and straws, eco cotton buds, eco glitter and reusable containers wherever possible.
- We challenge our Curiosity Community to find creative ways to use their box when they’re done with the activities!

Not at all! We’ve lost count of the amount of times we’ve had parents say “I’d have loved science if I had’ve had something like this when I was a kid!” Each activity comes with:
- a clear set of instructions
- a simple explanation of what’s going on
- “How To” videos to help you with any sticky bits (sometimes literally!)
STEM is simply an acronym and stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. You might also come across STEAM which is just Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths.
Our Jumbo Boxes are chocka full of experiments and collectable lab equipment. These boxes are everything you need for a home science club. Each Box contains about 4-6 hours of activity time that can be broken up into smaller time chunks. The dimensions of this box are: 32cm W x 34cm L x 10cm H
Our Nano Boxes are letterbox sized (they are made to fit an average UK letterbox) and contain about 2 hours of activity time. The experiments are still awesome but we haven’t perfected our shrink ray yet so some of the bigger bits of kit are only available in the larger sized boxes, The dimensions of this box are 32cm W x 23cm L x 3cm H
We include all the specialist equipment and for the most part, all the other bits and bobs you need. But there are a few things that we can’t include because we aren’t allowed to ship them because they’re too large/fragile (like an egg!), or they’re things that you’re bound to have at home, like bowls, spoons, scissors for example.
Yes you can. When you have picked your box and are ready to check out you can add a different delivery address to the billing address.
Subscription costs vary depending on how many months you buy up front and the size of box you want (costs below inc p&p):
- Pay as you go monthly: £14.50/month for the letterbox sized box and £24.95/month for the large jumbo box.
- 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions offer bulk buy savings with a 12 month subscription resulting in a cost of £12.50/box for the letterbox sized box and £22.16/box for jumbo.
Single boxes cost £14.95 for the letterbox sized box and £26.45 for the jumbo box
Our boxes have loads of stuff in them! Lots of the activities can be easily shared and done with multiple children together. Where they can’t be shared, they can be repeated, so siblings can take turns!

If you get the Jumbo or Curiositots boxes you might be able to salvage the collectables!
All our experiments and activities are designed and put together by our team of thinkers, tinkerers and testers right here in the UK. Our team is made up of bright young researchers and engineers from The University of Oxford, people who have worked in schools and of course lots of mums!
