Cara King
Battery Engineer

I’m a very enviromentally focused person and my job reflects that. I work on making new, greener, batteries for large-scale energy storage. The type of batteries I work on have a special name, they are called lithium-sulphur flow cells.
I love the work I do because I think it’s important to make a lasting difference in the world, and I really believe the work I’m doing will do that. My dad was a nuclear engineer and some of the fondest memories I have of growing up are of our weekend experiments that more often than not involved setting things on fire! In a controlled environment obviously!
I was always amazed with how solar panels can use the energy from the sun to turn on a light, and I didn’t understand why more people didn’t use them. That curiosity started me on the road down renewable energies and energy storage.
