Curiosity in Action: Explore science at The Lab22 – a FREE science lab for schools in Surrey Lucas and Karim – hosts of the Lab 22 YouTube channel

This month’s STEM Story continues the Lab22 theme, shining a spotlight on two of its inspiring young hosts: Lucas and Karim, age 11.

Lucas and Karim are the enthusiastic hosts of the Lab22 YouTube channel, where they explore the world of science and physics by answering real questions from young people. In their Question Box series, children visiting Lab22 submit their own curious, sometimes surprising questions ranging from how things work to why the world behaves the way it does.

Rather than simply giving answers, Lucas and Karim take on the role of young investigators. They unpack each question step by step, using discussion, reasoning, and scientific thinking to explore possible explanations. Their approach reflects how science really works: asking questions, testing ideas, and learning through curiosity.

The channel combines elements of:

• Real student voice – questions come directly from children aged around 9–11
• Scientific thinking – exploring ideas rather than just presenting facts
